The summer is upon us again so it's time for the MatchPoint intra-club tournaments.

MATCHPOINT CLUB CHAMPIONSHIPS

Singles - Thur 7 June
Levels - Thur 14 June
Mixed - Thur 21 June
Juniors - Thur 28 June (tbc)

Play starts at 8pm sharp; games are played using "old" rules.

Level doubles partnerships will be drawn randomly, so you don't need to find a partner to enter!

Mixed doubles are entered as a pair; "A" team players cannot play together.

Entries close on the Monday club night before each competition.

Handicaps will be determined by the selection committe.

WATERSIDE COACHING

There are still places on the Waterside coaching day Sunday 24 June 10am-1pm £12 per person at Applemore Health & Leisure Centre.

Luff Cup WDBA Badminton Tournament - Sunday 12 November from 12 noon

Closing date for entries is Thursday 9 November 2006.

The first of this season’s WDBA badminton tournaments is fast approaching.

The Luff Cup is an Open mixed doubles event with no handicapping.

National Badminton Week

Next week (14^th to 22^nd) October is National Badminton Week.

The aim is to promote badminton and as such our club-night (Monday 16^th) is being taken over by BadmintonEngland: they will be running free coaching on all four courts for players of all levels, so come along and bring your friends (especially if they don't currently play!).

New Pricing Structure

The new fees structure has been agreed for the 06/07 season (Silver membership has been dropped and Gold membership yearly fees reduced):

Fee Matrix (Annual + Club Night)

Concession*	£25 + £2.00	£50 + FREE

^*Full-time student or senior citizen

A £10 reduction per person is made where BadmintonEngland and Hampshire fees are paid elsewhere.

Yearly membership fees can be paid in two halves: the first by the end of September, the second by the end of December. Unfortunately, due to huge cash flow issues at the start of the season, this option will carry a £20 surcharge this year.

Additionally, a LATE payment surcharge of £10 will be levied to any outstanding fees from 1^st January 2007.

Members who choose to pay the Bronze fee will NOT be considered for team selection, but may be selected as a reserve if they so wish!

AGM date changed

The AGM has been moved from Monday 3rd July to Monday 24th July. The location (Totton Rec upstairs cafe) and time (7:30pm) remain unchanged.

Please consider which teams you want to play in for the 06/07 season (we need to get numbers at the AGM if possible). If you can't come to the AGM please let me know by email on the address below.

Mixed Doubles Champions

A superb performance by Theresa Smith dragged John Hepworth through to become mixed doubles champions with Sonia Doublet and Mike Newton-Woof runners up.

Level Doubles Champions

Well done Jo Francis and Fiona Norton for becoming the 2006 Ladies Doubles champions (Kim Marsh and Nicky Saunders runners-up).

Well done also to Paul Hoff and Mike Newton-Woof, our new Mens Doubles champions (John Hepworth and Steve Irvine coming second).

Singles Champions

Congratulations to Jo Francis and John Hepworth for becoming MatchPoint Badminton Club's 2006 singles champions (Theresa Smith and Paul Hoff were runners-up).
