2 Minutes of the last meeting

Minutes of the meeting on 7th September were read and adopted.

3 Matters Arising

New pegs have now been sorted – thanks to Kim and Sonia for organising. Need to have a red and black marker so we can create new pegs for some of the new members.

Ian B to put a notice on the board with details of the officers of the club. Will also include details of those with various coaching qualifications.

Need to organise ‘buddy’ system for the junior members. Ideally have two or three people for each junior. These ‘buddies’ would be there to help the juniors with various aspects of their game.

4 Chairman's Report

Club Nights attendances have dropped off now that the season has started and so we are only currently using two courts from 8pm to 10:30pm on Club nights. If numbers warrant it, we can get extra courts on the night.

Bill for extra court use has been received, needs to be passed to Craig for cheque to be written.

5 Treasurer's Report

Still some membership fees outstanding, also need to collect the 2nd instalment from those who are paying in two parts. All membership fees that have been received have now been banked.

Match fees are coming in to the club secretary on a regular basis and being banked.

Have received court fees for match nights for the 2005 part of the season.

6 Secretary's Report

Package of information has been received from the BaofE. They are interested in compiling a list of the officers of badminton clubs around the country as well as trying to find out how much time is given up to English badminton by volunteers. Examples would probably be Matt Pascoe’s involvement with the County U-21 squad as well as Doug Dawson’s involvement as a line judge.

Ian B will contact the officers to check if they are OK with this information about them being passed on.

7 Team Secretary’s Report

Only had one cancellation to fixtures so far.

Have Julie Lakomy looking after the reserve list for the Waterside League with Kim doing this activity for the Winchester League

8 Social Secretary's Report

Xmas Dinner Dance has been booked for Thursday 16th December at the Novotel in Southampton. Start time is 7:30 for 8:00. Price will be £23 per person. Provisionally booked for 30 people, with 22 confirmed so far.

Ian N stated that Megabowl deals are no longer available. Alternative social events could be group of people going to the Brook at Portswood,

Ian N also looked at various flight or ferry deals for weekend trips. Best option would appear to be Jersey/Guernsey by ferry at approx £90 for 3 nights B&B. Ian will circulate various options to members to see if there is sufficient interest. Dates in February looked best at present.

Sales of Club Polo Shirts have gone well. 50 were ordered and most of these have been given to those who ordered them. Looks good when playing matches to see team wearing the Club shirts.

9 Junior Report

Hope to be up an running with Junior Club at Redbridge School early in the New Year. Paul is still working some issues.

10 Any Other Business

Discussion was held on the state of the floor at the Recreation Centre. It is very slippery and people are struggling to keep their footing.

Ian N is liasing with Ed Pooley from the Recreation Centre on the problem. He is also talking to the District council on issue of insurance

11 Date of next meeting

Tuesday 22nd February – Bold Forrester - Marchwood - 7:30pm
