3 Matters Arising

Need to check whether Jo drafted the article on MatchPoint Badminton Club for Pete G to circulate to potential sponsors.

At previous meeting Woof pointed out that he did not think it was obvious from our website how to e mail us. – Checked website and it is on the ‘About Us’ page. Suggest this gets added to the Home page as well

4 Chairman's Report

Club Nights are continuing to be well attended and we are taking up extra courts on a ‘as needs’ basis. Will look at only requesting one extra court for the next couple of weeks as the numbers drop fairly quickly by 10pm and we often do not enough people to fill all four courts by then.

Newsletter is being sent to all members. This contains information about the new Membership Fees structure.

5 Treasurer's Report

All members should have paid their membership fees by end of September. Anyone not having paid by then will have to pay the Bronze Member Club Night Fee of £3.50. For those who pay in two instalments, it was agreed that the second instalment should be paid by the end of November. It was also decided that in future years, the membership fee should be paid in a single instalment.

6 Secretary's Report

Nothing to report

7 Team Secretary’s Report

Selection Meeting was held on 25th August and all the teams have been selected. We have 10 teams across the various leagues. The selected teams are posted on the Club notice board. Certain members have expressed their disappointment with the team they have been selected for.

Waterside Fixtures have been arranged with both Winchester and Southampton being done in next few days.

A Captains meeting will be held at 8pm on Thursday 23rd September to give out the captains packs to all.

It was decided we need to keep on top of banking the Match Fees. Need to try and get the fees to the Treasurer on a monthly basis.

8 Social Secretary's Report

Xmas Dinner Dance has been booked for Thursday 16th December at the Novotel in Southampton. Start time is 7:30 for 8:00. Price will be £23 per person. Provisionally booked for 30 people, but this can be amended if needed. Will need a £10 deposit soon.

Ian Newcombe has been looking at other possible social events such as 10 pin bowling. Megabowl often do offers for groups.

He will also look at flights from Southampton Airport to destinations such as Munich or Geneva if anyone is interested in such trips. Craig could help with car hire if required.

9 Junior Report

Paul to follow up with Jo, Mike and Matt Pascoe for all the details they have on the junior set-up.

Need to get flyers made to distribute in Redbridge School and the surrounding area.

Paul to follow up with Jo about who has what coaching qualifications within the club.

We still have some credits on the Leader courses and coach part I

10 Any Other Business

Comments made that is was good to see some of the more experienced members giving advice and tips to the newer members. This can only help to improve their game. Ian N suggested trying a “buddy” system for the newer/junior members to give them help and advise on aspects of their game.

It was agreed that we should put a Note on the Notice board with all the officers of the club and their contact details.

Sonia and Kim agreed to look for new pegs for the board.
